HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM - Meeting Minutes - 15-P - 2-25-1981 - PRISON BOARDMINUTE BOOK PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA Minute No. 15-P Washington, PA, February 25, 1981 The monthly meeting of the Prison Board of the County of Washington met in the Washington County Prison at approximately 11:40 a.m. with the following members being present: Commissioner Mascara, and Gilmore, Sheriff Fazzoni, and Controller Stache. Absent being: Commissioner Paluso, Judge Sweet and District Attorney Bigi. Also being present: Linda Hands, Secretary and Warden Taylor. Chairman called the meeting to order and asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No. 14-P, each member having received acopy. Moved by Mr. Stache, seconded by Mr. Mascara, that Minute No. 14-P be approved as read. Motion carried unanimously by vote cast by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye Warden's Report: Warden Taylor discussed with the Board the matter of purchasing fire- proof boxes for the prisoners. Warden Taylor explained that each prisoner would have one to keep their belongings in. Warden Taylor stated that each 3 box would cost $38.04 and that they would need approximately 100 of them. He also stated that money could be obtained from the sail Renovation Fund. (A brief discussion was held). Moved by Mr. Gilmore., seconded by Mr. Mascara, that Warden Taylor look into the matter of obtaining fire -proof boxes as per above. Motion carried unanimously by vote cast by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". Warden Taylor asked who he should see about any questions he might have on the renovation of the Jail. Mr. Gilmore stated and recommended that any questions on that matter should be discussed with Richard Glance of the Planning Commission before any work is done. Warden Taylor reported to the Board that if the County Jail were to keep Federal prisoners that they would have to raise the amount per day from $18.5.0: to $25.00 per day. This would bring the rate up to where other counties; charge for their Federal prisoners. Moved by Mr.. Mascara, seconded by Mr. Stache, that the Warden raise the per diem rate for Federal prisoners from $18.50 to $25.00. Motion carried unanimously by vote cast by the Board signifying their approval by stating nAyen. (A biref discussion was held). MINUTE BOOK PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA Controller Stache presented the bills for the month of January for 1 the Board's consideration and approval. Moved by Mr. Gilmore, seconded by 4 Mr. Mascara approving the payment of bills for the month of January.
