HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM - Meeting Minutes - 17-P - 4-8-1981 - PRISON BOARD86 MINUTE BOOK PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA 1 rl 1 :Minute No. 17-P Washington County Prison Board z Washington, Pa., April 8, 1981 f The monthly meeting of th.e Prison Board of the County of Washington met in the Commissioners' Conference Room at approximately 11:40 a.m. with the follow ing members being present: Commissioner Gilmore, Judge Sweet, Deputy Controller Humble and Sheriff Fazzoni. Absent being: Commissioners Mascara and Paluso, and District Attorney Bigi. Also being present: Chief Clerk Dallatore, Warden i Taylor, Administrative Assistant Davis, Linda Hands, Secretary, and Bob Robertson -of The Observer -Reporter. Chairman Fazzoni called th.e meeting to order and asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No. 16-P, each member having re- ceived a copy. Moved by Judge Sweet, seconded by Mr. Gilmore, that Minute No. 16-P be approved as read. Motion carried unanimously by vote cast by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". Deputy Controller Humble presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills for the month of March, 1981. Moved by Judge Sweet, seconded by Mr. Gilmore, approving the payment of bills for the month of March. 'Motion carried unanimously by vote cast by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". Warden Taylor announced to the Board his resignation as Warden effective 3 April 24, 1981, and his acceptance of the position as Mercer County Jail Warden. Judge Sweet discussed with the other Board members the alternatives available to the Prison Board concerning temporarily filling this position, i.e., appoint Deputy Warden Robert Poland as Acting Warden, contact the State Bureau of Correc- tions for a temporary warden on a per diem basis or ask the Sheriff to assume they `responsibilities. Warden Taylor recommended that the Board seriously consider appointing Mr. Poland as Acting Warden. A brief discussion followed. The Board was in agreement to appoint Mr. Poland as Acting Warden. Chairman Fazzoni appointed Judge Sweet, Commissioner Gilmore and himself as a "Search Committee" for Warden Taylor's replacement. The Board also agreed to have Mrs. Pennline, Personnel Director, contact the Bureau of Corrections for any prospective applicants for the position of Warden and to set up interviews accordingly with the Search Committee.
