Minute No. 18-P
Washington County Prison Board
Washington, PA, June 11, 1981
The monthly meeting of the Prison Board of the County of Washington
met in the Commissioners' Conference Room at approximately 11:35 a.m. with the
following members being present: Commissioners Paluso, Gilmore and Mascara,
Judge Sweet, Controller Stache and Sheriff Fazzoni. 'Absent being: District
Attorney Bigi. Also being present: Ch_aief. Clerk Dallatore, Acting Warden
Poland, Administrative Assistant Davis, Marge Pennline, Personnel Director,
Linda Hands, Secretary and Jon Stevens of the Observer -Reporter.
Chairman Fazzoni called the meeting to order and asked if there
were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No. 17-P each member
having received a copy.
Moved by Mr. Gilmore., seconded by Mr. Stache, that Minute No. 17-P
be approved as read. Motion carried unanimously by vote cast by the Board
signifying their approval by stating "Aye".
Chairman Fazzoni informed the Board that Dr. McKinley had requested
a raise of $150.00 per month. A brief discussion was held.
Moved by Mr. Gilmore., seconded by Judge Sweet, approving an increase
of $150.00 per month for Dr, McKinley, Motion carried with Mr. Paluso voting
"No". This would be effective. September le 1981,
The Board discussed the matter of the vacant Warden's position.
;Mrs. Pennline reported that she had advertised this position with the Greensburg
Regional Facility and also in West Virginia and Ohio. Mr. Mascara stated that
he.received a call from Joseph. Gregg, Warden from Lawrence County, who expressed;

an interest in the position. Mr, Mascara therefore asked Mrs.. Pennline to set
up an interview with. Mr, Gregg. Mr. Paluso brought up the matter of having
Mr. Poland, Acting Warden, continue for six months on a trial basis. A brief
discussion followed. Mr. Gilmre pointed out that Mr.. Poland has applied for
the position and will be considered when the time comes. (It was also noted that
the salary advertised for this position is in the range of $20,000-$25,000.)
Controller Stache presented to the Board for their consideration and
approval the bills for the month of May, 1981. Moved by Mr. Gilmore, seconded
by Mr. Stache, approving the payment of bills for the month of May. Motion
carried unanimously by vote cast by the Board signifying their approval by
stating "Aye".
The Board also discussed the matter of the revolver which was turned
over by former Warden Taylor, upon his resignation, to the Sheriff's Office. A
brief discussion followed. It was decided that the Sheriff's Office would keep
the revolver in exchange for a shotgun which they would turn over to the Jail.

Acting Warden Poland reported to the Board that the Jail population

is 96 with five (5) from Westmoreland County and three C3) federal prisoners.
Meeting adjourned at approximately 12:00 Noon.
