HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM - Meeting Minutes - SPECIAL MTG - 4-28-1983 - PRISON BOARDMINUTE BOOK PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA Washington County Prison Board Washington, PA, April 28, 1983 A Special Meeting of the Washington County Prison Board was held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, 1983, in the Commissioners' Conference Room of the Courthouse Square Office Building for the purpose of discussing the Jail Renovation Project. The following members were r ,in attendance: Commissioners Mascara, Gilmore and Paluso; Controller Beharry and Sheriff Fazzoni Absent being: Judge Sweet and District Attorney Bigi. Also being present: Chief Clerk Dallatore, .Linda Hands, Clerk -Steno II; Warden Poland, Robert Buscanics of Robert Lettrich Associates; Bryon Smialek, Observer -Reporter and James Provance, Herald -Standard. Controller Beharry reported that because of the concern expressed for replacing the steel bars with concrete block and closing off the catwalk, a meeting was held on April 15, 1983,:; among herself, Robert Buscanics of Robert Lettrich Associates, Richard Glance, County Architect, Warden Poland and Walter Gregory, Court Administrator. She reported that they came up with an alternative to keeping the catwalk open and leaving the stairwell in the existing position as noted on the drawings. She noted that the cost for this revised plan is estimated to be approximately $25,000 (assuming the existing material can be reused) and $50,000 (assuming all new material needs to be manufactured). Discussion followed. Warden Poland stated that he is satisfied with the revised plan. Miss Beharry suggested that the Prison Board go on record recommending to the Board of Commissioners that they take whatever steps are necessary to incorporate those changes in the renovation. The Board directed Mr. Buscanics to contact Coffey Construction and have them submit the appropriate change order to the Board of Commissioners.
