HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM - Meeting Minutes - 6-P - 6-13-1984 - PRISON BOARD163 MINUTE BOOK PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA i 'Minute No. 6-P i Washington County Prison Board Washington, PA, June 13, 1984 The Washington County Prison Board met in the County Jail at approximately 11:40 a.m, with the following members being present: Commissioners Mascara and Paluso, Judge Gilmore, Controller Beharry and Sheriff Fazzoni. Absent being: Commissioner Petrosky and District Attorney Pettit. Also being present: Linda Hands, Clerk -Steno II; Warden Poland, Bryon Smialek, Observer -Reporter and Natali* Moore, Herald -Standard.. Chairman Mascara called the meeting to order and asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No, S-P, each member having received a copy. Moved by Miss Beharry, seconded by Mr, Fazzoni, that Minute No, 5-P be approved as read. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their ..approval by stating 'Aye ". WARDEN'S REPORT: Warden Poland reported to the Board the following breakdown in the Jail population: Sentenced prisoners 88 Unsentenced prisoners 57 Females 7 Weekenders 26 Work Release 8 Federal Holdovers 8 Warden Poland reported to the Board the following information: Income from other units for maintenance of prisoners for the month of May, 1984: U. S. Marshal Service $7,373.00 U. S. Immigration & Naturalization $ 18.50 TOTAL INCOME $7,391.50 Total Room & Board for Weekend and Work Release prisoners for May, 1984: $ 693.00 Inmates seeing Doctor for the month of May, 1984: 55 Men 3 Women Warden Poland reported to the Board that an inmate (R. Libengood) tried to commit suicide by hanging. Mr. Poland explained that this incident happened on June 12, 1984 and that Libengood was placed in a holding cell for his own pro- tection and observation. Mr. Poland also noted that he called mental health for a re-evaluation of Libengood, Mr. Poland stated that he has sent a request for more radios and is wait- ing for delivery of these radios. A brief discussion followed, 184 MINUTE r K PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA a BILLS: Controller Beharry presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills for the month of May, 1984, in the amount of $14,470.92. Dis-= cussion was held on the matter of the bread delivery to the Jail. Moved by Mr. Fazzoni, seconded by Miss Beharry, approving the payment of the bills for the' month of May,. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye", Reimbursable May Medical Payments -0- Reimbursable May Maintenance $ 7,861.75 Adjustment April Maintenance $ 934,25 Total $ 8,796 00 Outstanding Reimbursable Medical $ 449.55 Outstanding Reimbursable Maintenance $ 1,051.45 Total $ 1,501.00 Total Medical Outstanding Reimbursements $ 449.55 Total Maintenance Outstanding Reimbursements $ 9,847,45 TOTAL OUTSTANDING REIMBURSEMENTS $10,297.00 BILLED PAID BALANCE Work Release $760.00 $523.00 $237.00 Weekenders $255,00 $170.00 85.00 Warden Poland notified the Board members that the response to the inspection report would be completed by this Friday and that he would forward a copy of that response to each member. Controller Beharry reported to the Board that the audit of the Jail will commence on May 29th and will hopefully have the on -site work done by Friday (June lst).
