Miss Beharry made some comments concerning the verification of medical
assistance of the inmates. She noted that the amount of the September bill to
'Washington Hospital should be reduced by $2,620.20 due to the fact that it was
.discovered that inmates M. S. Lowther ($77.00) and R. Medofer ($2,543.20) were
covered by Medical Assistance. Therefore, the total amount of the September billo
was adjusted to $18,869.74. She also noted that the Jail has again agreed to
check prisoners for medical assistance when they are admitted.
A brief discussion was held on the matter of work release prisoners and
the procedure for non-payment of their bills. The Board was in agreement that
the Warden should discuss this matter with the Courts.
Chairman Mascara noted the receipt of a letter from the Pennsylvania
Bureau of Correction regarding Access to County Prison and Jail Inspection Reports,
He requested that this letter be a part of the minutes (see attachment).
District Attorney Pettit brought to the Warden's attention the matter of
the inmates (housed in the Old Sheriff's Office) hanging out the windows on
Cherry Way and verbally assaulting female passersby. Some discussion followed.
Warden Poland stated that he would try to have this problem corrected.
There being no further business, Chairman Mascara declared the meeting
adjourned at approximately 12:05 p.m.
