Washington County Prison Board
Washington, Pa., June 12, 1985
The Washington County Prison Board met for its monthly meeting in the Wash-
ington County Jail at approximately 11:55 a.m, with the following members being
present: Judge Gilmore, Commissioners Mascara and Petrosky and Controller Beharry.
Absent being: Commissioner Paluso, Sheriff Fazzoni and District Attorney Pettit.
Also being present: Warden Poland; Linda Hands, Clerk -Steno II; Judi Lomago and
Shirl Profio, Executive Secretaries; and Natalie Moore, Herald -Standard.
Secretary Beharry called the meeting to order and asked if there were any
corrections, additions or omissions to Minutes No. 4-P and 5-P, each member having
received a copy. Moved by Mr. Mascara, seconded by Judge Gilmore, that Minutes
No. 4-P and 5-P be approved as written. Motion carried unanimously by the Board
signifying their approval by stating 'Aye"'.
WARDEN'S REPORT:
Warden Poland presented to the Board the following information:
Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners
for May, 1985:
Greene County $ 1,085.00
Westmoreland County $ 2,575.50
Northampton $ 101.00
Immigration $ 227.25
Allegheny County $ 101.00
Fayette County $ 50.50
U. S. Marshal $10,403.00
TOTAL $14,543.25
Total Work Release and Weekenders Room and Board for
May, 1985:
Weekenders were billed $485.00 Received $340.00
Work Release were billed $400.00 Received $210.00
TOTAL $885.00 $550.00

Warden Poland requested permission from the Board to construct a Conference:
Room located downstairs where two (2) cages are presently located. Mr. Poland ex-
plained that they would like to take one cage out and move the coffee and candy
machines to put the conference room there.. Mr. Poland stated that they have every-
thing appropriated for except $421.30 that they need for materials. Warden Poland
noted that the County's carpenter would do the rough structure and the Jail staff``

would do the finish work. Warden Poland stated that the purpose of the Conference
Room would be for attorneys to meet with the prisoners.
Moved by Judge Gilmore, seconded by Mr. Petrosky, to approve the Warden's f.
request to construct a Conference Room in the lower portion of the Jail as per
above. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by
stating "Aye".

BILLS:
Controller Beharry presented to the Board for their consideration and
approval the bills for the month of May, 1985, in the amount of $23,331.69. Con
troller Beharry pointed out to the Board that there are some February meat bills
included in this month's payment. She advised the Warden that her office is still

having some problems with getting invoices and receiving copies from the Jail.
Moved by Mr. Mascara, seconded by Judge Gilmore, approving the payment of the
bills for May, 1985. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their
approval by stating "Aye".

Controller Beharry recommended that the Court Order from Judge Gladden
regarding the Jail physician case be made a part of the Minutes. .(A copy is
attached hereto and made a part hereof.)
There being no further business, Secretary Beharry declared the meeting
adjourned at approximately Noon.
