HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM - Meeting Minutes - 11-P-85 - 11-13-1985 - PRISON BOARDziv MINUTE BOOK PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA 1 1 Minute No. 11-P-85 Washington County Prison Board Washington, Pa,, November 13, 1985 The Washington County Prison Board met for its monthly meeting in the ,Commissioners Conference Room at approximately 11:45 a,m. with the following members being present: Judge Gilmore, Commissioner Petrosky, Controller Beharry; and District Attorney Pettit. Absent being: Commissioners Mascara and Paluso and Sheriff Fazzoni, Also being present: Executive Assistant DuJordan; Linda Hands, Clerk -Steno II; Warden Poland and Byron Smialek, Observer -Reporter. Chairman Pettit called the meeting to order and asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No.10-P-85, each member having re- ceived a copy. Moved by Miss Beharry, seconded by Mr. Petrosky, that Minute No. 10-P-85 be approved as written, Motion carried by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye''. WARDEN'S REPORT Warden Poland presented to the Board the following information: Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for October, 1985: Allegheny County Common Pleas $ 505.00 Greene County $ 1,750.00 Westmoreland County $ 176.75 U. S. Marshal $10,453.50 TOTAL $12,885.25 Total Work Release & Weekenders for October, 1985: Weekenders billed $ 570.00 Received $440.00 Work Release billed $ 515.00 Received $390.00 TOTAL $1,Q85.00 $830.00 $125.00 was turned over to Resources & Investigations for collection, Status of prisoners confined at the end of October, 1985: MALES FEMALES TOTAL Sentenced 41 5 46 Unsentenced 51 3 54 Federal Holdovers 10 2 12 Greene County Holdovers 0 1 1 Westmoreland County 1 0 1 Fiercer County 1 0 1 West Virginia 1 0 1 TOTAL 105 11 116 Work Release 8 1 9 inmates seeino the doctor for October. 1985: 58 Males 10 Females Warden Poland notified the Board that the unrest he reported at last month's meeting has been more or less taken care of (i.e., transfer of Simeth, moving 220 MINUTE B O❑ K PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA RAOWK PAWTINs • OONOIbA. PA. prisoners around) and that everything is quiet at the Jail, Miss Beharry made reference to the total billings for weekend and work -re- lease prisoners and the total received and stated that we are looking at the same' problem that Mr. Paluso brought to the Board's attention two months ago. She noted that she has re -submitted the provisions of law which requires the Board to collect the money from weekenders and work -release prisoners and to take the room and board set by the Commissioners off the top and to distribute the rest of it, Miss Beharry suggested that the Board implement that procedure and evaluate the provisions of law that requires the Board to do so. Miss Beharry made some comments regarding this matter. BILLS: Controller Beharry presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills for the month of October, 1985, in the amount of $15,316.21. Some discussion was held relative to the bill from Washington Hospital ($6,961.65) re-- gard.ing services to 7 inmates. Moved by Judge Gilmore, seconded by Mr. Petrosky, approving the payment of the bills for October, 1985. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". Discussion followed. There being no further business, Chairman Pettit declared the meeting adjourned at approximately 12:00 Noon.
