Chairman Petrosky noted the receipt this morning of a FAX from PSACC
asking that the Commissioners lobby certain senators in Harrisburg to put an
attachment to proposed legislation (H.B. 1274) that would restore a provision
that all sentences under the bill are to be served in State facilities.
(Mr. Pettit entered the meeting)
More discussion followed regarding the impact this legislation would
have on the population at the jail and court system (i.e., trials, more judges
and staff, etc.)
Commissioner Mascara noted that the Commissioners would lobby to make
sure the legislators know exactly how we feel regarding this legislation.
Moved by Mr. Mascara, seconded by Mr. Paluso, approving the Warden's
Report as submitted. Motion carred unanimously by the Board signifying their
approval by stating "Aye".
(Ms. Beharry entered the meeting)

Commissioner Mascara questioned the invoice from Washington Hospital
($8,838.05) and asked Controller Beharry if these invoices have been checked to
see if any insurance will cover these bills and if any of the monies are
recoverable. Ms. Beharry explained that her office has been working diligently
at this point to verify that the prisoners who were taken to the hospital do
not have any insurance whatsoever. Therefore, these monies are not
recoverable. Discussion followed concerning these hospitalization costs.
