HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM - Meeting Minutes - 6-P-90 - 6-13-1990 - PRISON BOARD36 1: M I N UTE BOOK PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA Minute No. 6-P-90 Washington County Prison Board Washington, Pa., June 13, 1990 The Washington County Prison Board met for its monthly meeting in the Washington County Jail, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: Judge Gilmore; Commissioners Mascara and Petrosky; Controller Belcastro; Sheriff Fazzoni; and District Attorney Pettit. Absent being: Commissioner Paluso. Also being present: Warden Pelzer; Deputy Warden Tema&; Executive Assistant DuJordan; Linda Hands, Clerk -Steno II; Kathy Warco, Observer -Reporter; Pete Skirchak, Herald -Standard; and Jim Jefferson; WJPA. District Attorney Pettit called the meeting to order at approximately 11:45 a.m., there being a quorum present. (Commissioners Mascara and Petrosky later entered the meeting.) Bills: Controller Belcastro presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills for the month of May in the amount of $38,890.73. Moved by Mr. Fazzoni, seconded by Judge Gilmore, approving the bills for the month of May as per above. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and made a part hereof.) (Commissioners Mascara and Petrosky entered the meeting.) Warden's Report: Warden Pelzer presented to the Board the following information: Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for May: No monies received. Total Work Release and Weekender&: Weekenders billed $1,190.00 Received $1,200.00 Work Release billed $2,700.00 $2,750.00 TOTAL $3,890.00 $3,950.00 $35 was turned over to the Clerk of Courts for collection. Status of prisoners confined at the end of May 1990: MALES FEMALES TOTAL Sentenced prisoners 43 3 46 Weekend prisoners 32 3 35 Work Release 28 0 28 Unsentenced prisoners Awaiting trial 39 1 40 Awaiting sentencing 12 1 13 Home Detention Program 1 1 2 TOTAL PRISONERS 155 9 164 No. of inmates doctor saw 94 9 103 New commitments doctor saw 42 Repeat patients doctor saw 61 Sheriff transported 21 inmates MINUTE BOOK PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA 364 Warden Pelzer advised the Board that the two jail physicians (M. Mamros & G. Russell) will be resigning at the end of this month. He stated that there are four doctors who will replace them. Warden Pelzer updated the Board relative to the work being done on the entrance way of the jail and noted that the work should be completed by next month and also that the plumbing contract has been awarded and the work is almost completed. With reference to the Home Detention Program, Warden Pelzer reported that they have three people waiting to be assigned to this program which will bring the total amount to five. Moved by Judge Gilmore, seconded by Mr. Pettit, to accept the Warden's Report. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". Approval of Minutes; Chairman Mascara asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No. 5-P-90, each member having received a copy. Moved by Mr. Belcastro, seconded by Mr. Fazzoni, that Minute No. 5-P-90 be approved as written. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". Moved by Judge Gilmore, seconded by Mr. Belcastro, that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye".
