HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM - Meeting Minutes - 6-P-92 - 6-17-1992 - PRISON BOARD419 PRISON BOARD MINUTE BOOK WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA Minute No--. - -,P-- Washington County Prison Board Washington, Pa., June 17, 1992 The monthly meeting of the Washington County Prison Board was held at the Washington County Jail, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: Commissioners Mascara, Petrosky and Ford; Deputy Controller Namie; and District Attorney Pettit. Absent being: Judge Gilmore and Sheriff Fazzoni. Also being present: Warden Pelzer; Stephanie Parish, Secretary; Jim Jefferson, WJPA; Chris Enzerra, Herald Standard; and John Sacco, Observer -Reporter. Chairman Mascara called the meeting to order at approximately 11:35 a.m. and asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No. 5-P-92, each member having received a copy. Moved by Mr. Ford, seconded by Mr. Petrosky, that Minute No. 5-P-92 be approved as written. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating „Aye, Warden's Report: Warden Pelzer presented to the Board the following information: Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for May: Federal Marshalls were billed $119.00 Total Work Release and Weekenders: Work Release were billed $4,440.00 Weekenders were billed $3,100.00 Amount received $6,149.00 $90.00 was turned over to the Clerk of Courts for collection. Status of prisoners confined at the end of May, 1992: MALES FEMALES TOTAL Full -Time prisoners 51 3 54 Weekend prisoners 31 4 35 Work Release 35 1 36 Home Detention Program 14 2 16 * (As of today, a total of 19 are in the program.) Unsentenced prisoners Awaiting sentencing 4 0 4 Awaiting trial 62 2 64 TOTAL PRISONERS 197 12 209 No. of inmates doctor saw 100 12 112 New commitments doctor saw 48 Repeat patients doctor saw 64 Sheriff transported 29 inmates Moved by Mr. Petrosky, seconded by Mr. Ford, to accept the Warden's Report as per above. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". MINUTE BOOK PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA 4�O Bills: Deputy Controller Namie presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills for the month of May in the amount of $43,068.95. Discussion was held in reference to a $37,000.00 bill which was for pyschiatric care of four inmates that has pushed medical care expenses at the Jail $10,000.00 beyond what was budgeted for this year. (District Attorney Pettit entered the meeting.) Moved by Mr. Ford, seconded Mr. Petrosky, approving the payment of the bills for the month of May as per above. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and made a part hereof.) New Business: Moved by Mr. Petrosky, seconded by Mr. Ford, supporting the Submission of a Grant Application under Act 71 for the construction of the new Criminal Justice Center to be built. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye".
