Washington County Prison Board
Washington, Pa., February 1-0, 1993
The monthly meeting of the Washington County Prison Board was held in
the 7th Floor- Conference Room, Courthouse Square Office Building, Washington,
Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: judge Gilmore;
Commissioners Mascara, Petrosky and Ford; Controller Belcastro; and Chief
Deputy Sheriff Secreet. Absent being: District Attorney Pettit. Also being
present; Warden Pelzer; Linda Hands, Clerk -Typist II; Jim Jefferson, WJPA; and
Kathy Warco, Observer -Reporter.
Commissioner Mascara called the meeting to order at approximately
a.m. and asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to
Minute No. 1-P-93, each member having received a copy. Moved by Mr. Belcastro,
seconded by Mr. Ford, that- Minute No. 1-P-93 be approved as written. Motion
carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye".
Warden's Report:
Warden Pelzer presented to the Board the following

Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for
January:
U.S. Marshallc - $773.50
Total Work Release and Weekenders;
Work Release were billed $4,020.00
Weekenders were billed $1,880.00
Amount. received $4,930.00
*205.00 was turned over to the Clerk of Courts for
collection.
Status of prisoners confined at the end of January, 1993:

Controller Belcastro presented to the Board for their consideration
and approval the bills for the month of January in the amount of $41,270-18.
Moved by Mr. Bellcastro, seconded by Judge Gilmore, approving the bills for the
month of January as per above. Motion carried unanimously by the Board
signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto
and made a part hereof.)
Regarding the matter of medical costs for inmates that was discussed
at last month's meeting, Commissioner Mascara noted that Blue Cross is looking
into putting together a package for prisoners for coverage under a blanket
insurance policy. A brief discussion followed.
Warden Pelzer noted for the record that the State Department of
Corrections conducted its annual inspection of the jail in January and the
Board members should be getting a copy of that report within the next month.
Warden Peizer reported to the Board that the Controller's Office has
completed the annual audit of the Inmate Welfare Account and the Board members
should already have a copy. Some discussion followed.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at
approximately 11,40 a.m.
