HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM - Meeting Minutes - 2-P-94 - 2-9-1994 - PRISON BOARD465 MINUTE BOOK PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA -- Minute No. 2-P-94 Washington County Prison Board Washington, Pa., February 9, 1994 The monthly meeting of the Washington County Prison Board was held in the 7th Floor Conference Room, Courthouse Square Office Building, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: Commissioners Mascara, Petrosky and Ford; Controller Belcastro; and Sheriff Secreet. Absent being: District Attorney Pettit and Judge Gilmore. Also being present: Warden Pelzer; Linda Hands, Clerk - Steno II; and Jim Jefferson, WJPA. Chairman Petrosky called the meeting to order at approximately 11:50 a.m. and asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No. 1-P-94, each member having received a copy. Moved by Mr. Belcastro, seconded by Mr. Ford, that Minute No. 1-P-94 be approved as written. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". Warden's Report: Warden Pelzer presented to the Board the following information: Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for Tanuarv: $922.25 - U. S. Marshals $595.00 - U.S. Army Total Work Release and Weekenders: Work Release were billed $2,220.00 Weekenders were billed $1,960.00 Amount received $3,770.00 No monies were turned over to the Clerk of Courts for collection. Status of prisoners confined at the end of Tanuarv, 1994: MALES FEMALES TOTAL Sentenced prisoners 62 7 69 Weekend prisoners 16 0 16 Work Release 19 2 21 Home Detention Program 16 3 19 Unsentenced prisoners Awaiting sentencing 13 0 13 Awaiting trial 75 3 78 TOTAL PRISONERS 201 15 216 No. of inmates doctor saw 143 33 176 New commitments doctor saw 48 Repeat patients doctor saw 128 Sheriff transported 21 inmates (Commissioner Mascara entered the meeetng.) Chairman Petrosky questioned Warden Pelzer relative to the new jail facility and whether or not the jail's needs are going to change as it relates to the medical staff. Warden Pelzer stated that there should be no significant change. We will have an infirmary and an examining room. Moved by Mr. Belcastro, seconded by Mr. Mascara, to approve the Warden's Report as per above. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". Bills: Controller Belcastro presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills for the month of January, 1994, in the amount of $33,980.73. Moved by Mr. Belcastro, seconded by Mr. Ford, approving the bills for the month of January, 1994, as per above. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and made a part hereof.)
