Washington County Prison Board
Washington, Pa., April 15, 1998
The Washington County Prison Board was held in the 7th Floor Conference Room, Courthouse Square
Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: Commissioners Diana L. Irey; J. Bracken
Burns, Sr. and Joseph A. Ford, Sr.; Controller Belcastro; District Attorney Pettit and Sheriff Larry Maggi. Absent
being: Judge Gilmore. Also being present: Warden Pelzer; Bill McGowen, Director of Administration; Jill Devine,
Assistant Solicitor; Linda Belcher, Secretary; Joe Smydo, Observer -Reporter; Kathy Thomas, Valley Independent
and Jim Jefferson, WJPA.
Chairman Irey called the meeting to order at approximately 11:30 a.m. asked if there were any corrections to
Minute No. 3-P-98 each member having received a copy.
Moved by Mr. Belcastro, seconded by Mr. Pettit, that Minute No. 3-P-98 be approved as written. Motion
carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye".
WARDEN'S REPORT
Warden Pelzer presented to the Board the following information:
Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for March. 1998:
Other Counties (Greene and Fayette) $ 10,320.00
U. S. Marshal $ 3,850.00
U. S. Immigration $ 3,800.00
Administrative Fee $ 1,564.15
Monthly Sub -Total $ 19,534.15
Year to date GRAND TOTAL $ 47,157.65

Warden Pelzer reported the Correctional Facility is currently housing approximately 40 U. S. Immigration
inmates.
Warden Pelzer also reported that female inmates assisted the Highway Safety Department in assembling
promotional items (tablets with a pen attached).
Moved by Mr. Belcastro, seconded by Mr. Burns, to accept the Warden's Report. Motion carried
unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye".
BILLS
Controller Belcastro presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills for the
month of February, 1998 in the amount of $53,663.27.
Moved by Mr. Belcastro, seconded by Mr. Burns, approving the bills for the month of February, 1998.
Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached
hereto and made a part hereof.)
There being no further business, Chairman Irey declared the meeting adjourned at approximately 11:40 a.m.
