Irey; J. Bracken E O Burns, Sr. and Joseph A. Ford, Sr.; Controller Belcastro; District Attorney Pettit and Sheriff Larry Maggi. Absent a being: Judge Gilmore. Also being present: Warden Pelzer; Bill McGowen, Director of Administration; Jim McCune; Solicitor; Lance Turturice, intern with McCune and Vreeland's Office; Jill Devine, Assistant Solicitor; Linda Belcher, Secretary; Dick Cibella, Director of Human Resources; Robert Redlinger, Detective with the City of Washington Police; Joe Smydo, Observer -Reporter; and Kathy Thomas, Valley Independent. Chairman Irey called the meeting to order at approximately 11:30 a.m. asked if there were any corrections to Minute No. 4-P-98 each member having received a copy. Moved by Mr. Belcastro, seconded by Mr. Burns, that Minute No. 4-P-98 be approved as written. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". WARDEN'S REPORT Warden Pelzer presented to the Board the following information: Income from other pnits for the maintenance of prisoners for April. 1998: Other Counties (Greene and Fayette) $ 14,120.00 U. S. Marshal $ 4,100.00 U. S. Immigration $ 16,200.00 Administrative Fee $ 1,396.81 Monthly Sub -Total $ 35,789.81 Year to date GRAND TOTAL $ 82,947.46 Program Fees and Room and Board Income for the Month of April filled Collected Work Release/Home Detention $ 9,832.00 $ 9,909.00 Weekenders $ 2,328.00 $ 2,040.00 Turned over to Clerk of Courts (Minus) $ -0- Adjustments made to billings (Minus) $ -0- Monthly Sub -Total $12,160.00 $11,949.00 Year to date GRAND TOTAL $ 45,260.00 $43,945.00 Status of vrisoners confined at the end of April. 1998: MALES FEMALES TOTAL Full Time 89 5 94 Work Release 56 4 60 Weekend prisoners 40 10 50 Home Detention Program 2 1 3 Unsentenced prisoners Awaiting sentencing and/or trial 104 10 114 TOTAL PRISONERS 291 30 321 0 MINUTE BOOK PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA BILLS MALES FEMALES TOTAL Examinations performed by the physician 116 14 130 Initial Exams 37 Repeat Exams 93 Medical Transports performed by the Sheriff 5 Controller Belcastro presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills for the month of April, 1998 in the amount of $83,988.95. Moved by Mr. Belcastro, seconded by Mr. Burns, approving the bills for the month of April, 1998. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and made a part hereof.) At this time an Executive Session was called to discuss personnel matters involving Officer Duaine Sullenberger. (The Board returned to regular session.) Chairman Irey stated that the issue before the Board is consideration of disciplinary action for Correctional Officer Duaine Sullenberger. Moved by Mr. Belcastro, seconded by Mr. Pettit, to terminate Mr. Sullenberger's employment with Washington County. Roll call vote taken: Mrs. Irey - Yes; Mr. Burns - Yes; Mr. Ford - Yes; Mr. Maggi - Yes; Mr. Belcastro - Yes; Mr. Pettit - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. It was noted that this recommendation before the Board was submitted by the Solicitor's Office in conjunction with the Department of Human Resources.
