Bracken Burns, Sr. and E O cc Scott H. Fergus; Controller Belcastro; Sheriff Larry Maggi. Absent being: Judge Gilmore and District Attorney Pettit. Also being present: Warden Pelzer; Bill McGowen, Director of Administration; Jill Devine, Assistant Solicitor; Michelle Miller, Chief Clerk; Joe Smydo, Observer -Reporter; Shelly Jones, WJPA; and Kathy Thomas, Valley Independent. Chairman Irey called the meeting to order at approximately 11:30 a.m. and asked if there were any corrections to Minute No. 9-P-98 each member having received a copy. Moved by Mr. Belcastro, seconded by Mr. Maggi, that Minute No. 9-P-98 be approved as written. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". WARDEN'S REPORT Warden Pelzer presented to the Board the following information: Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for September, 1998: Other Counties (Greene and Fayette) $ 6,200.00 U. S. Marshal U. S. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". Discussion was held regarding the home monitoring program. 0 Commissioner Fergus questioned Sheriff Maggi on the recent string operation and asked how many individuals were picked up on this operation. Sheriff Maggi reported that approximately 60 out of 122 persons were picked up. He complimented the Warden and his staff for a job well done in expediting the process ing for the Sheriff's staff. BILLS Controller Belcastro presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills for the month of August in the amount of $53,753.07. Moved by Mr. Belcastro, seconded by Mr. Burns, approving the bills for the month of September. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and made a part hereof.) NEW BUSINESS: Mr. McGowen commented on the Work Release/Weekenders Program (80 total) and the inception of the FITS Program which is growing with their new grant, to as high as 60 in the next few months. He noted that the County will be using a very large portion of the weekender population for work detail. Some discussion followed regarding the FITS Program.
