Bevec, Diana L. Irey and J. Bracken Burns, Sr.; District Attorney John Pettit; Deputy Controller Michael Namie and Sheriff Lawrence Maggi. Absent being: Judge Gilmore. Also being present: Warden Joe Pelzer; Marlene Luketich, Director of Administration; Michelle Miller, Chief Clerk; Ellen Carlson, Secretary; Kevin Davis, Jail Employee; Joanne Hamilton, Union Steward for Teamsters Local 205; Marissa Scarvel, Observer -Reporter; Kathy Thomas, Valley Independent; Chris Haines, Herald Standard; and Jim Jefferson, WJPA. Chairman Pettit called the meeting to order at approximately 11:35 a.m. and asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No. 3-P-00, dated March 15, 2000. Moved by Mr. Burns, seconded by Mr. Bevec, that Minute No. 3-P-00 be approved. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". WARDEN'S REPORT Warden Pelzer presented the following information to the Board: Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for March. 2000: Other Counties (Fayette and Greene) $ 19,160.00 U.S. Army 50.00 Administrative Fee 1,395.86 Monthly Sub Total 20,605.86 Year to date GRAND TOTAL $ 65,024.18 Proeram Fees and Room and Board Income for the Month of March. 2000: Billed Work Release/Home Detention $11,417.00 Weekenders $ 2,156.00 Turned over to Clerk of Courts (Minus) -0- Adjustments made to billings (Minus) -0- Monthly Sub -Total $13,573.00 Year to date GRAND TOTAL $ 28,346.68 Status of prisoners confined at the end of March. 2000: Full Time Work Release Weekend prisoners Awaiting sentencing and/or trial TOTAL PRISONERS Collected $11,367.00 $ 2,156.00 $13,523.00 $ 28,395.68 MALES FEMALES TOTAL 91 7 98 49 1 50 32 4 36 85 15 100 257 27 284 1 MINUTE BOOK PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA MALES FEMALES TOTAL Examinations performed by the physician 103 26 129 New commitments 30 Repeat patients 99 Medical Transports performed by the Sheriff 7 Moved by Mrs. Irey, seconded by Mr. Bevec, accepting the Warden's Report as per above. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". BILLS • Deputy Controller Namie presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills for the month of March, 2000, in the amount of $50,552.51. Moved by Mrs. Irey, seconded by Mr. Namie, approving the bills for the month of March, 2000. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and made a part hereof.) OLD BUSINESS None NEW BUSINESS Kevin Davis, a Correctional Facility employee, requested the opportunity to attend the Board meeting and speak on issues he had concerning the Correctional Facility. Moved by Mrs. Irey to adjourn the meeting and allow Mr. Davis the opportunity to speak with Prison Board members privately. Motion died for lack of a second. Moved by Mr. Maggi to adjourn the meeting. Motion died for lack of a second. Moved by Mr. Burns to allow Mr. Davis the opportunity to present his concerns during the meeting. Motion died for lack of a second. After much discussion among the Board members, it was agreed that Mr. Davis should put his concerns in writing to the Prison Board members. Further action will be taken, if necessary, after review of the written report by Mr. Davis. There being no further business, moved by Mr. Maggi, seconded by Mr. Bevec to adjourn the meeting.
