Washington County Prison Board
Washington, PA, August 20, 2003
The Washington County Prison Board was held at the Washington County Correctional Facility, Cherry Way,
Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: Commissioners Diana L. Irey; Judge Debbie
O'Dell Seneca; District Attorney John Pettit; Sheriff Larry Maggi and Deputy Controller Randy Vankirk. Absent
being: Commissioners John Bevec and J. Bracken Burns, Sr. Also being present: Cathi Kresh, Administrator/Chief
Clerk; Richard DiSalle, Solicitor; Michelle Miller, Director of Human Resources; Linda Belcher, Administrative
Assistant; Warden Joe Pelzer; Linda Metz, Observer -Reporter and Tony DePalma, WJPA.
Chairman Pettit called the meeting to order at approximately 12:05 p.m. and entertained a motion to approve
Minute No. 7-P-03.
Moved by Mrs. Irey, seconded by Mr. Maggi, approving Minute No. 7-P-03 as written. Motion carried
unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye".
WARDEN'S REPORT
Warden Pelzer presented the following information to the Board:
Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for Julv, 2003:

Administrative Fee 2,900.96
Monthly Sub Total 8,000.96

unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye".

BILLS 0
Deputy Controller Vankirk presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills for the
month of July, 2003 in the amount of $84,005.06.
Moved by Mr. Vankirk, seconded by Judge O'Dell Seneca, approving the bills for the month of July, 2003.
Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto
and made a part hereof.)
OLD BUSINESS
None
NEW BUSINESS •
Warden Pelzer informed the Board the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections recently inspected the
facility and noted the county would be receiving an award for accomplishing zero deficiencies from the state at the next
prison board meeting and the correctional facility also received re -certification to conduct training to correctional
officers.
The Board congratulated Warden Pelzer and his staff for a job well done.
There being no further business, Chairman Pettit declared the meeting adjourned at approximately
12:15 p.m.
