HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM - Meeting Minutes - 12-P-04 - 12-15-2004 - PRISON BOARD6 MINUTE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS BOOK WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA Minute No. 12-P-04 Washington County Prison Board Washington, PA, December 15, 2004 The Washington County Prison Board was held in the Washington County Correctional Facility, Cherry Way, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: Commissioner Larry Maggi; Controller Michael Namie; Sheriff John Rheel and District Attorney John Pettit. Absent being: Commissioners Bracken Burns and Diana Irey, Judge O'Dell Seneca. Also being present: Warden Joe Pelzer; Mary Helicke, Chief Clerk; Lynn DeHaven, Solicitor; Scott Fergus, Director of Administration; Linda Belcher, Administrative Assistant; Michelle Miller Kotula, Human Resources; John Altman, Sheriffs Office; Joy Sprowls, Commissioner's Office; Carl Maggi, interested citizen; Barbara Miller, Observer -Reporter and Jim Jefferson, WJPA. Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 11:35 a.m. and entertained a motion to approve Minute No. 11-P-04. Moved by Mr. Pettit, seconded by Mr. Namie, approving Minute No. 11-P-04 as written. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". PUBLIC COMMENTS None WARDEN'S REPORT Warden Pelzer presented the following information to the Board: Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for November, 2004 U S. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". BILLS Controller Namie presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills for the month of November, 2004 in the amount of $60,149.74. Moved by Mr. Namie, seconded by Sheriff Rheel, approving the bills for the month of November. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and to made a part hereof.) OLD BUSINESS None NEW BUSINESS Chairman Maggi addressed the Board regarding a letter from the Department of Corrections commending the Washington County Correctional Facility for earning a Certificate of Compliance for 2004. Mr. Maggi stated Warden Pelzer and his staff have done a fine job and congratulated him for achieving this recognition. Warden Pelzer thanked the Board for their support in obtaining this certification. He also stated he could not have done it without the commitment of his staff. At this time an executive session was held to discuss a personnel issue. Meeting reconvened.
