HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM - Meeting Minutes - 5-P-05 - 5-11-2005 - PRISON BOARDMINUTE BOOK WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA Minute No. 5-P-05 Washington County Prison Board Washington, PA, May 11, 2005 The Washington County Prison Board was held in the 7th Floor Conference Room, Courthouse Square, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: Commissioners Larry Maggi, Bracken Burns and Diana Irey; President Judge Debbie O'Dell Seneca; Controller Michael Namie; and Sheriff John Rheel. Also being present: Warden Joe Pelzer; Mary Helicke, Chief Clerk; Lynn DeHaven, Solicitor; Linda Belcher, Administrative Assistant; Michelle Miller Kotula, Director of Human Resources; Barbara Miller, Observer -Reporter, and Jim Jefferson, WJPA and Carol Jackson, an interested citizen. Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 11:33 a.m. and entertained a motion to approve Minute No. 4-P-05. 9 Moved by Mrs. Irey, seconded by Mr. Burns, approving Minute No. 4-P-05 as written. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". PUBLIC COMMENTS Carol Jackson, a former inmate at the Correctional Facility, expressed her concerns regarding alleged mistreatment at the facility, i.e., being locked down in her cell and having no television privileges over a period of approximately six months. Ms. Jackson noted her whole unit was denied television privileges because she and other inmates reported complaints against a guard, Amy Moore, over long lockdown periods. WARDEN'S REPORT Warden Pelzer presented the following information to the Board: Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for April, 2005: U S. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". cr 0 1 • 1 BILLS n Controller Namie presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills for the month of April, 2005 in the amount of $60,056.67. Moved by Mrs. Irey, seconded by Mr. Burns, approving the bills for the month of April 2005. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and made a part hereof.) OLD BUSINESS None NEW BUSINESS None EXEUCTIVE SESSION At this time an Executive Session was held to discuss a personnel matter.
