HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM - Meeting Minutes - 5-P-06 - 5-17-2006 - PRISON BOARDPRISON BOARD MINUTE BOOK WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA 0 Minute No. 5-P-06 Washington County Prison Board Washington, PA, May 17, 2006 The Washington County Prison Board was held in the 7th Floor Conference Room, Courthouse Square, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: Commissioners Larry Maggi, Bracken Burns and Diana Irey; President Judge Debbie O'Dell Seneca; Controller Michael Namie; and Sheriff Sam Romano. Absent being: District Attorney John Pettit. Also being present: Warden Joe Pelzer; Scott Fergus, Director of Administration; Mary Helicke, Chief Clerk; Lynn DeHaven, Solicitor; Linda Belcher, Administrative Assistant; Tim McCullough, Director of Human Resources; Barbara Miller, Observer -Reporter, and Jim Jefferson, WJPA. Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 11:33 a.m. and entertained a motion to approve Minute No. 4-P-06. Moved by Judge O'Dell Seneca, seconded by Mrs. Irey, approving Minute No. 4-P-06 as written. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". PUBLIC COMMENTS None WARDEN'S REPORT Warden Pelzer presented the following information to the Board: Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for April. 2006: U S. Marshall $ 5,350.00 Administrative Fee 1,920.75 Social Security 400.00 Monthly Sub Total 7,670.75 Year to date GRAND TOTAL $ 33,886.30 Proeram Fees and Room and Board Income for the Month of April. 2006 Billed Collected Work Release/Home Detention $12,429.00 $12,141.00 Weekenders $ 1,419.00 $ 1,419.00 Turned over to Clerk of Courts (Minus) -0- Adjustments made to billings (Minus) -0- Monthly Sub -Total $13,848.00 $13,560.00 Year to date GRAND TOTAL $68,518.15 $ 68,177.15 Status of prisoners confined at the end of April. 2006 Full Time Work Release Weekend prisoners Unsentenced prisoners Awaiting sentencing and/or trial TOTAL PRISONERS MALES FEMALES TOTAL 97 6 103 34 4 38 7 2 9 117 19 136 255 31 286 MALES FEMALES TOTAL • • Examinations performed by the physician New commitments Repeat patients 101 45 146 39 107 MINUTE BOOK PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA Medical Transports performed by the Sheriff 12 E Moved by Judge O'Dell Seneca, seconded by Mrs. Irey, accepting the Warden's Report as per above. Motion 4 LL carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". v BILLS a 0 a Controller Namie presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills for the C 51 month of April 2006 in the amount of $127,020.08. ° Moved by Mr. Namie, seconded by Judge O'Dell Seneca, approving the bills for the month of April 2006. • Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and made a part hereof.) OLD BUSINESS None NEW BUSINESS Warden Pelzer informed the Board that the Department of Corrections would be conducting their inspection of the facility.
