HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM - Meeting Minutes - 7-P-06 - 7-19-2006 - PRISON BOARDMINUTE BOOK PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA Minute No. 7-P-06 Washington County Prison Board Washington, PA, July19, 2006 The Washington County Prison Board Meeting was held in the 71h Floor Conference Room, Courthouse Square Office Building, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: Commissioners Larry Maggi, Bracken Burns and Diana L. Irey; Controller Mike Namie; and Sheriff Sam Romano. Absent being: President Judge Debbie O'Dell Seneca and District Attorney John Pettit. Also being present: Warden Joe Pelzer; Scott Fergus, Director of Administration; Mary Helicke, Chief Clerk; Lynn DeHaven, Solicitor; Linda Belcher, Administrative Assistant; Tim McCullough, Director of Human Resources; Barbara Miller and Observer -Reporter and Jim Jefferson, . WJPA. Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 11:35 a.m. and entertained a motion to approve Minute No. 6-P-06. Moved by Mrs. Irey, seconded by Mr. Burns, approving Minute No. 6-P-06 as written. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". PUBLIC COMMENTS None WARDEN'S REPORT Warden Pelzer presented the following information to the Board: Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for Julv, 2006: Social Security $ 400.00 Administrative Fee 2,900.46 U. S. Marshal 4,231.12 Monthly Sub Total 7,531.58 Year to date GRAND TOTAL $ 48,871.53 Program Fees and Room and Board Income for the Month of Julv, 2006: Billed Collected Work Release/Home Detention 019,831.06 $19,824.06 Weekenders $ 1,240.00 $ 1,240.00 Turned over to Clerk of Courts (Minus) -0- Adjustments made to billings (Minus) -0- Monthly Sub -Total $21,071.06 $21,064.06 Year to date GRAND TOTAL $104,036.21 $103,797.21 Status of prisoners confined at the end of Julv. 2006 MALES FEMALES TOTAL Full Time 80 6 86 Work Release 44 5 49 Weekend prisoners 6 1 7 Unsentenced prisoners Awaiting sentencing and/or trial 149 34 183 TOTAL PRISONERS 279 MALES 46 FEMALES 325 TOTAL Examinations performed by the physician 144 60 204 MINUTE BOOK 7 PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA New commitments 71 Repeat patients 133 E Medical Transports performed by the Sheriff 10 CMoved by Mrs. Irey, seconded by Mr. Burns, accepting the Warden's Report as per above. Motion V r carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". 21 v Q BILLS cc Controller Namie presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills for the month of July 2006 in the amount of $91,159.52. • Moved by Mr. Namie, seconded by Mr. Burns, approving the bills for the month of July 2006. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and made a part hereof.) OLD BUSINESS None NEW BUSINESS Controller Namie requested the Board take action to reimburse Stanley Albright, Jail Chaplain who works for Good News Jail and Prison Ministry, for expenses related to his attendance of a job -related seminar in Huntington, Huntington County, in an amount not to exceed $95.00. Moved by Mr. Burns, seconded by Mrs. Irey, approving the foregoing payment for expenses for the Jail Chaplain. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". Chairman Maggi reminded the Board that the next meeting will be held on August 16th at 2:00 p.m. There being no further business, Chairman Maggi declared the meeting adjourned at approximately 11:40 a.m. THE FOREGOING MINUTES SUBMITTED FOR APPROVAL: 2006 ATTEST: SECRETARY 0
