HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM - Meeting Minutes - 11-P-06 - 11-15-2006 - PRISON BOARDF MINUTE BOOK WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA 0 Minute No. 11-P-06 Washington County Prison Board Washington, PA, November 15, 2006 The Washington County Prison Board Meeting was held in the Washington County Correctional Facility, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: Commissioners Larry Maggi, Bracken Burns, Diana Irey; President Judge Debbie O'Dell Seneca; Deputy Controller Randy Vankirk. Absent being: Sheriff Sam Romano and District Attorney John Pettit. Also being present: Warden Joe Pelzer; Scott Fergus, Director of Administration; Mary Helicke, Chief Clerk; Lynn DeHaven, Solicitor; Linda Belcher, Administrative Assistant; Tim McCullough, Director of Human Services; Barbara Miller, Observer -Reporter and Jim Jefferson, WJPA. Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 11:35 a.m. and entertained a motion to approve Minute No. 11-P-06. Moved by Mr. Burns, seconded by Judge O'Dell Seneca, approving Minute No. 10-P-06 as written. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". PUBLIC COMMENTS None WARDEN'S REPORT Warden Pelzer presented the following information to the Board: Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for October 2006: Administrative Fee $2,175.03 U. S. Marshal 1,500.00 Social Security 1,000.00 Monthly Sub Total $4,675.03 Year to date GRAND TOTAL $ 68,543.61 Program Fees and Room and Board Income for the month of October 2006: Billed Collected Work Release/Home Detention $13,621.00 $16,617.00 Weekenders $ 1,720.00 $ 1,720.00 Turned over to Clerk of Courts (Minus) -0- Adjustments made to billings (Minus) -0- Monthly Sub -Total $15,341.00 $15,337.00 Year to date GRAND TOTAL $178,136.21 $178,019.21 Status of prisoners confined at the end of October 2006: MALES FEMALES TOTAL Full Time 90 10 100 Work Release 37 6 43 Weekend prisoners 11 2 13 Unsentenced prisoners Awaiting sentencing and/or trial 142 28 170 40 TOTAL PRISONERS 280 46 326 MALES FEMALES TOTAL Examinations performed by the physician 123 45 168 New commitments Repeat patients Medical Transports performed by the Sheriff 13 45 123 MINUTE BOOK WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA Moved by Mr. Burns, seconded by Mrs. Irey, accepting the Warden's Report as per above. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". BILLS Deputy Controller Vankirk presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills for the month of October 2006 in the amount of $94,611.80. Moved by Mr. Namie, seconded by Mrs. Irey, approving the bills for the month of October. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and made a part hereof.) OLD BUSINESS None NEW BUSINESS Discussion was held regarding incoming correspondence from inmates to the Prison Board members and how these issues are being addressed. It was noted Warden Pelzer would keep the Board up to date on any significant accusations.
