Salary Board Minute No. SB 8-20-20 August 20, 2020
The Washington County Salary Board met in session in the Public Meeting Room of the Courthouse
Square Office Building, Washington, Pennsylvania, for the purpose of reconvening with the following
members being present: Commissioners Diana Irey Vaughan, Larry Maggi, Nick Sherman and Controller
Mike Namie. Also being present: Solicitor Jana Grimm; Chief of Staff John Haynes; Finance Director
Joshua Hatfield; Human Resources Director Shelli Arnold; Treasurer Tom Flickinger; Recorder of Deeds and
Tax Assessment Director Debbie Bardella; Elections Director Melanie Ostrander; Information Technology
representatives Earl Dean and Dan Kennedy; Executive Secretaries Marie Trossman and Patrick Geho; Chief
Clerk Cindy Griffin; Administrative Assistant Joyce Thornburg; Secretary Paula Jansante; Observer -Reporter
representative Barbara Miller; WJPA representative Bruce Sakalik; and concerned citizen Mary Jean Maggi.
Mrs. Vaughan called the meeting to order at approximately 10:40 a.m.
Moved by Mr. Sherman, seconded by Mr. Maggi, approving Minute No. SB 7-16-20 dated
July 16, 2020, as written.
Roll call vote taken:
Mr. Sherman — Yes; Mr. Maggi — Yes; Mrs. Vaughan — Yes; Mr. Namie — Yes.
Motion carried unanimously.

FOR THE BOARD'S CONSIDERATION
COURTS
Mrs. Vaughan presented to the board on behalf of President Judge Emery, Court Administration,
Judge's Secretary, $188.3692/day ($28.98/hour); create two part-time salaried positions effective 8/31/20.
Mrs. Vaughan presented to the board, on behalf of President Judge Emery, Court Administration,
Secretary -Senior Judge/Calendar Control, $48,945.08/year to Court Services Manager, $44,000. 00 /year; title
change and reduction in annual salary for one vacant full-time salaried position effective 8/31 /20.
Moved by Mr. Sherman, seconded by Mr. Maggi approving the foregoing personnel request.

SHERIFF
Mrs. Vaughan presented to the board on behalf of Sheriff Sam Romano, Sheriff, Deputy Sheriff II
(Corporal), Start - $23.18/hour; create one full-time union position effective 8/20/20.
Moved by Mr. Sherman, seconded by Mr. Maggi approving the foregoing personnel request.

Mrs. Vaughan presented to the board on behalf of Coroner Timothy Warco, Coroner, Administrative
Assistant, $18.00/hour; create one part-time non -union position effective 8/20/20.

hired Fixed Asset Manager/Buyer.
ELECTIONS
Elections, Elections Office Manager, $40,000.00/year; create one full-time salaried position effective

Mrs. Vaughan stated for the record, items noted during 2020 were incorporated into the Salary Book.
It is the consensus of the Salary Board that any procedural errors in the 2020 salary schedule book may be
corrected administratively by Human Resources.
There being no further business, Mrs. Vaughan declared the meeting recessed at approximately
10:43 a.m.
