Washington County Board of Elections October 28, 2024
The Washington County Board of Elections met in the Crossroads Center Conference
Room, Room G-16, Washington, PA with the following members being present: Chairman Nick
Sherman, Electra S. Janis, and Larry Maggi. Also present were Solicitor Sarah Scott, Chief of
Staff Daryl Price, Elections Director Melanie Ostrander, Executive Assistant Heather Wilhelm,
Executive Assistant Casey Grealish, Public Affairs Director Pat Geho, Barb Miller from the
Associated Press, and resident Deb Coury.
Mr. Sherman called the meeting to order at 1:33 pm.
Mr. Maggi led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Ms. Janis moved to approve the minutes of the October 2, 2024 meeting.
Mr. Maggi seconded the motion.
Motion unanimously approved.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Resident Deb Coury thanked the Board of Elections for addressing the entrance situation
at a polling place in North Strabane.
ELECTION DIRECTOR COMMENTS
We have received approximately 28,000 applications from voters requesting a
mail ballot.
October 29 is the deadline to apply for an absentee or mail in ballot.
NEW BUSINESS
Ms. Janis moved to approve the following electors to serve as Canvass Board members for
the November 5, 2024 General Election:
• Bill Nutt
• Jeffrey Elias
• Anthony Gennaccaro
• Gerilynn Gennaccaro
• Charles Watts
• Mary Lea Dutton
Mr. Maggi seconded the motion.
Roll call vote was taken.
Mr. Sherman—yes; Ms. Janis—yes; Mr. Maggi—yes
Motion passed.

Ms. Janis moved to approve the following electors to serve as Pre-Canvass Workers for the
November 5, 2024 General Election:

• Zahara Evanovich
• Preston Robison
Mr. Maggi seconded the motion.
Roll call vote was taken.

Motion passed.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
The next Board of Elections meeting will be announced to certify the November 5, 2024
General Election results on or before November 25, 2024.
There being no further business, Chairman Sherman declared the meeting adjourned
at 1:40 pm.
